Sengelmann Hall is a restored 1890’s Texas dance hall, restaurant, saloon, biergarten & Czech bakery in historic downtown Schulenburg, TX. We're located in the beautiful rolling hills of Fayette County an hour and a half from Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.

Our dancehall features live music and dancing on the original 115 year-old, long leaf pine floor every Friday and Saturday night. Dance to traditional Country, Texas Country, Western Swing, Cajun and Polka music.

We're excited to have such acts as Billy Mata, Bobby Flores, Asleep at the Wheel, Marcia Ball, Billy Joe Shaver, Cory Morrow, Beausoleil, Bleu Edmondson, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Charles Thibodeaux and the Austin Cajun Aces, The Shiner Hobo Band, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, Junior Brown and many others.

Being in the middle of Central Texas Polka Belt, and drawing on the rich cultural heritage, we bring excitement to Sunday afternoons with live polka music and dancing from 2-6 pm, free dance classes start at 12:30 pm (except Cajun Sundays). Bring the family for Polka Sundays!

Free Thursday shows feature the legendary Earl Poole Ball, Johnny Cash's piano player of 20 years. Earle starts tickling the ivories at 6 pm in the restaurant downstairs. Check out our music schedule, as we sometimes book other regional and international acts on the occasional weekday night.

Our Restaurant serves food inspired by the local Czech and German traditions and modern Texas eats. Our menu is designed around local ingredients from farms and ranches in our community. We make Pilsner Urquell goulash, Fayette County all-beef burgers and rib eye steaks, fresh Gulf Coast oysters and shrimp, salads with just off the farm vegetables, dumplings, soups and more. We bake our own bread and desserts daily. Authentic German, Czech and family recipes are the inspiration for our house-made rye bread, chocolate cream pie, banana pudding, and seasonal fresh fruit crisp.

In the saloon and biergarten, we have 14 beers on tap, a lively menu of pre-Prohibition cocktails and our secret recipe Sengelmann Hall Punch. We pour mostly Texas micro-brews as well as a few imported Czech and German beers. The bar downstairs is an exact replica of the mahogany bar that adorned Sengelmann Hall from 1894 until the 1940's. Enjoy the company of friends on the picnic tables in our biergarten shaded by live oaks and watch the sunset from our balcony above Main Street.

You can have dinner in the restaurant or a drink in the saloon or biergarten without a ticket but for the performances upstairs, you'll need a ticket. You can buy tickets for all our shows in advance on our website, over the phone, or in person at the ticket booth an hour before each show. Everybody is welcome! Kids 12 and under get free admission. Though most of the building is a historic restoration, our bathrooms are brand new and everything is air-conditioned!
